The program is led by the Tamil Nadu Centre of Excellence for Advanced Manufacturing (TANCAM) in strategic partnership with Mullai Academia International. It is strongly aligned with Dassault Systèmes sustainability principles and Industry 4.0 standards.

ECOAUDIT 2026 is a vital component of the state's broader climate mission. It directly supports the Tamil Nadu Climate Action Plan and the state’s commitment to the United Nations SDGs 2030. By engaging students, the government aims to:

Unlike traditional science fairs, ECOAUDIT introduces a first-of-its-kind audit-based learning model. It integrates:

The competition is open to all students across Tamil Nadu in Classes 8 through 12.

An audit is a structured observation and measurement of resources. Instead of just talking about the environment, you will track actual data—such as units of electricity consumed or grams of plastic waste generated—to find areas for improvement.

Students focus on one of the following:

• Bio Audit: Mapping local biodiversity and native species.
• Energy Audit: Tracking electricity usage and efficiency gaps.
• Waste Audit: Analyzing waste segregation and circularity.
• Water Audit: Identifying leaks and conservation opportunities.
• Food Audit: Measuring consumption patterns and wastage.
• Plastic Audit: Inventorying single-use plastics and finding alternatives.

To successfully complete your entry for ECOAUDIT 2026, you must submit two main components through the participant portal:

• A Structured Audit Report (PDF/PPT format): This document should serve as your primary evidence file. It must include your collected data (charts, tables, or measurements), a description of the audit methodology you followed, and your data-driven analysis of the findings.
• A 3-minute Video Presentation: A concise video where you or your team summarizes the key insights from your audit and presents your proposed "Home to Nation" sustainability solution. This is your chance to showcase your innovation and communication skills to the jury.

• Round 1: Expert review of reports by TANCAM and Mullai Academia International.
• Round 2: Virtual presentations for shortlisted candidates.
• Round 3: Physical regional finals held in Chennai, Coimbatore, Trichy, Madurai, and Tirunelveli.

• Certificates: Participation certificates for all who complete the audit.
• Prizes: Shields, medals, and cash prizes for top performers in each track.
• State Honors: The prestigious "Tamil Nadu Young Climate Leader" award.
