Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about ECO AUDIT 2026 and the TANCAM Young Innovators Mission.

🎯

Core Program Information

1. What is ECOAUDIT 2026?

ECOAUDIT 2026 is the flagship summer competition of the TANCAM Young Innovators Mission (TYIM) – Green Scouts: Home to Nation. It is a state-level, mission-mode initiative designed to transform school students into young environmental auditors and sustainability solution innovators.

2. Who is leading this initiative?

The program is led by the Tamil Nadu Centre of Excellence for Advanced Manufacturing (TANCAM) in strategic partnership with Mullai Academia International. It is strongly aligned with Dassault Systèmes sustainability principles and Industry 4.0 standards.

3. How does this align with the Tamil Nadu Government’s Green Initiatives?

ECOAUDIT 2026 is a vital component of the state's broader climate mission. It directly supports the Tamil Nadu Climate Action Plan and the state’s commitment to the United Nations SDGs 2030. By engaging students, the government aims to:

  • Promote grassroots behavioral change across all districts.
  • Create a "bottom-up" climate action model where citizens actively contribute to sustainability.
  • Establish Tamil Nadu as a national leader in youth-driven environmental innovation.

4. What makes this competition unique?

Unlike traditional science fairs, ECOAUDIT introduces a first-of-its-kind audit-based learning model. It integrates:

  • Systems Thinking: Understanding how environmental factors (like water and energy) interact.
  • Simulation Mindset: Evaluating "what-if" scenarios for improvement.
  • Digital Sustainability: Using data-driven insights to solve real-world problems.

Audit Tracks & Submissions

8. What exactly is an "Environmental Audit"?

An audit is a structured observation and measurement of resources. Instead of just talking about the environment, you will track actual data—such as units of electricity consumed or grams of plastic waste generated—to find areas for improvement.

9. What are the six Audit Tracks?

Students focus on one of the following:

  • Bio Audit: Mapping local biodiversity and native species.
  • Energy Audit: Tracking electricity usage and efficiency gaps.
  • Waste Audit: Analyzing waste segregation and circularity.
  • Water Audit: Identifying leaks and conservation opportunities.
  • Food Audit: Measuring consumption patterns and wastage.
  • Plastic Audit: Inventorying single-use plastics and finding alternatives.

10. What must I submit for the competition?

To successfully complete your entry for ECOAUDIT 2026, you must submit two main components through the participant portal:

  • A Structured Audit Report (PDF/PPT format): This document should serve as your primary evidence file. It must include your collected data (charts, tables, or measurements), a description of the audit methodology you followed, and your data-driven analysis of the findings.
  • A 3-minute Video Presentation: A concise video where you or your team summarizes the key insights from your audit and presents your proposed "Home to Nation" sustainability solution. This is your chance to showcase your innovation and communication skills to the jury.
🏆

Career & Future Impact

ECOAUDIT 2026 acts as a Career Launchpad. You gain early exposure to Industry 4.0 competencies and professional reporting skills that are highly valued in the modern workforce and green-tech sectors.

14. Are there internship opportunities?

Yes. High-potential students (especially in Classes 11–12) may be connected to mentorship and internship pathways within TANCAM’s network of advanced manufacturing and sustainability-driven industries.

15. What is the "State-Wide Sustainability Intelligence Database"?

The data collected by students across Tamil Nadu will be compiled into a first-of-its-kind database. This provides the government with hyper-local insights to help formulate better environmental policies for the future.
